We packed our stuff and had breakfast and then got the 8.09 train to Brussels-Midi. We had time enough to get some lunch and then the Thalys high speed train to Amsterdam. We got to our hotel via tram and then unpacked and did a last bit of washing since we had windows that opened and it was nice and warm. We went for a coffee across the street and a walk to where we would be boarding the ship from and then back to the hotel (since I had stupidly forgotten my public transport card). We were too lazy to go out for dinner, so just had it at the hotel, since it was highly rated. It was pretty good!
The next morning, the day of boarding our cruise, we went across the road to the cafe again because we had already decided what we’d be having for breakfast while we had our coffee there the previous afternoon! We then headed off into town for some sight-seeing. Eileen really likes Amsterdam. I was a bit blase about it, having been there a few times already. But, even though I wasn’t really feeling it, I took a few photos..
We headed back to our hotel and got our luggage and tagged it for the cruise, and then hopped back on the tram and went to the passenger terminal and boarded.
The ship is huge!! Enormous, even! 15 decks and they’re big long decks! We settled in to our room, which is also bigger than I’d been led to expect. Then we grabbed our cameras and headed upstairs to watch the ship leave port (eventually). It was a nice warm day, so we were outside drinking at the bars. Non-alcoholic for me, though 😀 and then smushed up against the guard rails watching the ship go through the lock. Fascinating stuff.
Then to dinner – unfortunately, we’re on the late shift for dinner – 8.30pm, so it’s really late by the time that’s finished.
We got back to our room around 10pm and I was too tired to do anything but sleep!
