Mt Coot-tha Lookout and Botanic Gardens

The last bit of tourism for now was a trip to Mt Coot-tha. Firstly up to the Lookout for some nice views across the city and coffee and cake while doing so. My friend took a few photos, but I resisted. The coffee was pretty good though. I had a look at the menu for The Summit restaurant and noticed that they had a $39 early dinner set meal thing going. Sounds good, if it wasn’t so far away!

After morning tea, we headed down to the gardens. It was full of classes of children of various ages that we tried to avoid on our walks around the gardens. There are some beautiful flowers and plants here. I remember coming here and seeing cacti when I was younger, but the assortment of cacti seems to be smaller these days. Or maybe it’s because I’m bigger…

We spent some time in the Tropical Display Dome, with some amazing blossoms:

And then the fernery – which was much like my backyard, so I didn’t bother with too many photos:

Not far from the dome are the cactus displays, where we also encountered the scrub turkey:

Some of the cacti were also in flower with some gorgeous displays:

We had lunch, which cost a lot and wasn’t very generous, leaving me hungry. I can’t recommend it, though the view was nice:

We wandered a bit further afield after our break, taking in some of the water features with wildlife and sculpture displays:
