We had a bit of a late start today, since I wanted to upload my blog this morning after last night’s lateness.
We headed to Government Gardens and parked the car there and then walked around a bit and smelled the roses.
And photographed the Museum building. I was sure it’d been altered since last time I was there, but it hasn’t! (I checked my photos from 2004 and no, not changed).
We did the Sulphur Bay walk along the lake edge. It was really great! There was a lot of birdlife there, too. I had no idea all this was there!
We intended to go and have lunch, but I saw this picturesque little harbour at another part of the lake, by Government Gardens. There were geese right next to the car, and boats and sea-planes, as well as black swans and lots of different types of seagulls, including the indigenous black-billed ones.
We then went to have lunch. We had chosen a cafe via the internet, but when we saw it, decided against it and wandered down the street and chose Brew. My sister had a steak sandwich with chips and I had a falafel salad. They were both very, very good.
It was time to drive to Mt Maunganui then. We were staying with my friend’s mother-in-law. We arrived early and put the washing on and then went for a 40 minute walk (which took us 2 and a half hours). It was really beautiful, walking along the beach from Jan’s and then around the base of the mountain at The Mount. I slipped over again, but at least I didn’t hurt myself this time!
After we got back, Jan cooked us a delicious dinner and I helped her with her new Android phone.
