Zurich Day 2

After crashing last night, we woke up during the night but didn’t get up til 6am – nothing would’ve been open and we have no coffee in our room – I know! It’s the pits!

So we went to the station around the corner and got ourselves mozarella and tomato rolls for breakfast, along with a large coffee. The rolls were delicious!! The coffee was OK.

We brought our goodies and ate them at the outdoor restaurant that wasn’t open yet, and then went back to the room so I could try to catch up my blog, since I was now 2 day behind!

I worked on it until coffee time, when we went back to the station and sat down to have morning tea of pain au chocolat (Eileen) and Almond Croissant (me) along with a good coffee. We checked out some info at the tourism office and decided that the tour of the lake would be good.

We went back to the room so I could finish the second blog entry. That took until lunchtime.

Then we got the train to Rapperswil and walked around there for about an hour and a half. It’s a lovely old town:

The castle is being used for a wedding and was in the middle of being set up. It looks really great!

We wandered around a little more.

And then waited for our ship to come in…

Then we got on a ship to cruise slowly back to Zurich. The view from the ship was good, too. The two hour trip was pretty relaxing. The lunch we had was pretty satisfying for a sanger!

After we got back to Zurich, we waited and then did the short river cruise to the Landesmuseum, near our place.

We went back to the room and relaxed a bit and then around 7.30pm we headed out to the Uetliberg to have a look at Zurich from a great height. There’s a platform there you can climb but we took one look at it and decided against!

We did decide to walk a little of the way back towards town because I was keen to walk through the forest. No point photographing forest though, from experience. We took the train from the next station back to central and then got ourselves some cheese, a bretzel and had that along with the bottle of wine we’d bought the previous night. Nice dinner!!

Then pack and get ready for departure in the morning…
