We had a day at sea yesterday – nothing much to report. It was very relaxing – talking to people, sitting in our room and reading (and working on my blog), and of course lots of eating and drinking!
Today we come into port in Tallinn, Estonia. It’s a lovely little city with an UNESCO listed Old Town. We wandered around on our own – first stop was for decent coffee in the oldest cafe in Estonia. Then, up to Toomea Castle (well, tower) and through a few gates. We went into a couple of the Russian Orthodox churches. They were beautiful inside, but both of them disallowed photos, unfortunately.
We stopped for lunch at this Estonian restaurant, called Rataskaevu 16, by sheer luck. It was really great! Seems to be the most popular restaurant in town! They’re booked out for dinner for the next two weeks, and they continually turned people away while we were sitting there. And no wonder, the food was great and the service even better! It’s such a cosy little place! The waiter was a real sweetheart. Very gifted with the upsell, I tell you! He even left us little notes under our coffee cups to tell us we were lovely. 🙂 He was only young, so he wasn’t after us 😉
Anyway, after that most enjoyable interlude, we headed off back into the streets of Tallinn, making our way back to the ship:
